Installing Spotify app on an Android device w/o Google Play

Apparently, even though I have an Android device, I can't install the Spotify app. From what I've been able to gather, you have to get it from Google Play. I can't access Google Play because my device didn't come with it pre-loaded. Is there a way to get the app other than through G.P.? If not, my main reason for going Premium is gone...
