Android lock screen controls not workin

Samsung Galaxy 8

When phone is locked the pause/play button is not effective for pausing music. I push pause and it pauses momentarily then plays on its own after under a second. The same thing happens but in reverse if the song is paused when trying to play from lock screen. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the spotify app and I'm running the most current version of Android.

Operating System

(iOS 10, Android Oreo, Windows 10,etc.)

Thanks for letting us know about this!

Could you try running a clean reinstall? It's different than a quick reinstall and could make all the difference.

Also, please check that Spotify is given all the permissions to play on your device by going to:

Mobile Settings> Apps> Spotify> Permissions. Allow everything you see there.
Check if Spotify is not selected for battery optimization: Mobile settings> Apps> Spotify> Battery> Optimize battery usage> select top All (not optimized for apps)> Spotify> disable.

Don't hesitate to restart the phone after that.
