How to close Spotify on Android? (NOT log out!)

My Question or Issue

How the **bleep** do I close the thing without having to login/out every time? I sometimes play my music through other devices. In this past week (been a couple of updates) now my phone displays spotify active on my lockscreen (but apparently the last song played through this device, not the last song played on my account) and if I unlock the wrong way it opens spotify over whatever I was planning to do. The mini icon is always active and as this is a lower level device it seems to be chewing through my power while bluetooth/wifi is on.

It's driving me up the wall!

Even better... I gave in a logged out. **bleep** thing stayed put. Had to force stop the app. >;-(
