Offline playlists keep downloading every day

Hi,

For some reason my offline playlists keep redownloading each day.

Actions taken on 31/10/2019:

- Turned offline off for all playlists

- Deleted cache

- Uninstalled Spotify App

- Removed all offline devices from the web portal

- Reset my password

- Reinstalled Spotify app

- Set one playlist to offline download instead of all

What I noticed that when it started downloading the first time my device was not in the offline list in my account.

I waited a full day and this morning I started Spotify and it immediately started downloading.

I have not closed the Spotify app in the meantime or rebooted my phone.

And today there are 2 devices in my offline list for my account.

The application seems to keep adding new offline devices to my account.

I have read so many threads about this issue already because this is happening to people since at least 2014 but I have not found a solution that worked yet.

Note that I had a Samsung Galaxy S8 before and never had any issues with it.

Can anyone help me with this?

Info:

Username: dvdmeer

Subscription: Premium

Spotify version: 8.5.29.828

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S10+

Songs are stored on internal storage with nearly 100GB free

No virusscanner installed

Spotify is set to run in the background so it will not be closed automatically by the power save system of Android

Thanks for reaching! We appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've tried and the info you've given here.

It's been some time since you've posted this, so could you try a clean reinstall? This has a bigger effect than a quick reinstall most of the times.

Just to be sure, you don't use an SD card, do you?

Can you also send us a screenshot of how the downloaded songs appear on your device?

Hi,

Unfortunately your suggestion did not help at all. I have even gone a step further and reset my device to factory defaults after removing all my offline devices from the portal. After installing Spotify and waiting for one day I noticed it began downloading everything again.

All files are still downloaded on the phone (as shown by the included screenshot).

There once were one or two files in my offline playlists that were greyed out. I figured this was the reason for the continuous downloading so I removed those files and figured this solved the issue. Unfortunately not.

At this point I have given up because if a factor reset does not solve the issue then nothing will probably will.
