Excessive data usage android

I have a Samsung and was notified that Spotify is using high amounts of data. I tried to contact Spotify; however, they refer me to this or Twitter and I do not Tweet. I need help fixing this issue or I will have to delete an app that I truly enjoy using each day. How do I fix this problem?

Hi there.

In your Spotify app’s settings, under Music Quality, is Download Using Cellular switched on or off?

Spotify recommends using WiFi instead of mobile data where possible. If there’s no WiFi available, switch Data Saver on. This reduces the app’s data usage by showing fewer images and reducing audio quality.

To switch Data Saver on:

Tap Home.
Tap Settings.
Switch Data Saver on.

Thank you. I have data saver on. I also connect to wifi, but I cannot even
listen in my car. In a 10 minute time span it used an excessive amount of
data, which it has never done before.

Just an update... I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled and even that has not rectified the excessive amount of data this app is using lately. Sadly, I still cannot enjoy my app in the car. I might have to find a new music app to utilize and delete spotify indefinitely. 😔 completely bummed!
