Podcasts not working

I am using premium Spotify app on my android phone (Samsung galaxy j3) Spotify updated 2-3 days ago.

Since then I cannot access podcasts. All music and play lists are working . I go to 'podcasts' and in the subsection of episodes it says '"something went wrong, try again?" I hit try again and same message.

I go to 'downloads' and it says I have none, I did... but that's fine. Then if I go to 'shows' I can see all of the podcasts I listen to however if I try to open any of them I get a big exclamation mark a long with "an error occured"

This is since the update. I have logged in an out, turned phone on an off etc and done the usual steps but still not working.
