I have an amazon echo at home, connected to spotify

I have spotify installed on my mobile, and use android auto whilst commuting - but tend to listen to google music

When I'm driving in the car listening to something on google music, suddenly without warning my music is interuppted and spotify takes over, showing a song that I've never heard of.

It turns out that this happens whenever someone else in my family is at home and playing music on an amazon ehcho device. My music pauses, and their music also pauses (I presume becuase spotify now thinks it's being used in 2 places at once). I cannot swipe away the spotify notification, so I go to task manager and swipe away the app, resume my google music (or any other media app)... and it returns seconds later to do the same. The problem only goes away if the person at home gives up and stops using spotify, or I give up and turn off my phone.

This is really getting annoying now. Please can anyone help?
