Using Google Assistant to close Spotify

Spotify won't completely close when I ask Google Assistant to close it (the notification that it is open is still there). then it messes up my routine if I try to start Spotify again (it will just open the app but won't play anything).

I have my routine set to adjust the volume, shuffle Spotify playlist and play it.

Does anyone have a fix for this?? I'm using an Android S10.

Just to confirm, are you still experiencing this? If so, we’d first recommend making sure that you're running the latest app version and also try a clean reinstall to see if that makes a difference.
