Local files won't play on mobile

Hello, I am trying to add some local files of my favorite songs but I have a few issues

I can play it on my laptop but only after I switch offline mode on and off once
I cannot play it from my phone at all, the songs are greyed out and have an exclamation mark on them
I can connect my phone as a remote when I am playing the songs on my laptop but if I switch to mobile the song disappears
I don't think it's illegal music because the artist offers his songs for free online as long as it's not monetized so I'm trying to add it to my personal playlist
The past threads I've read are quite old and I've tried most of the solutions except the codec one and I'm trying to find more updated info

Even though some other file types might work, these are the ones that the feature is designed to work with:

To sync local files from one device to another, you must be actively logged in to both devices with Spotify open and on the same network.

Make sure that the file isn't DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected .

Tip, If if you have iTunes, you can check for DRM protected tracks by following these steps.
