My Question or Issue

Hi, I just notice that all the offline songs I downloaded thru my SD card work fine. The only problem is I didn't allow Spotify to have access to my storage thru permissions even on a freshly installed app it didn't ask me for any storage permissions. How is it possible that Spotify is able to store offline music/cache on my SD card or my phone without asking the user?

And one more thing what is the purpose of the storage permission on the Spotify app?

Hey there @adriel0415,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community! Sorry for the delayed response, we just came across this thread.

By default Spotify files are stored on your phone's internal memory and you can choose to move them to your SD card. You get a dialog box message when the files will be moved.

You can read more about storage information here.

You can also control the permissions Spotify has by going to your phone's settings > Apps> Spotify.
