I'm having this problem on Android as well. Spotify has been horribly slow lately, and I realized it started when I began using AdGuard DNS. However, I first tried restarting my phone, clearing my Spotify cache, and reinstalling the app. None of those steps fixed the problem. I've now turned off private DNS and Spotify is just snappy as it used to be.

Hey @fres87,

Thanks for reaching out about this.

We're not currently aware of a wider issue with Spotify and Adguard, but perhaps @linearz could confirm for us if this is an issue or not?

In the meantime, we just wanted to make sure that you've tried disabling Adguard to see if this issue occurs irrespective of it.

If you're sure Adguard is the cause of this, could you still try a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your Android device to see if that helps solve the issue?

If that doesn't work, another thing you could try which has been suggested in other forums is to perform a DNS flush, followed by disabling your NIC and re-enabling it as a way of restarting.

There's not much else we can suggest at this time, but do let us know how you get on - we'll do our best to answer any further questions you might have.

As of about a month ago, I had a problem where changing the DNS on my phone from AdGuards to Google's fixed the "no internet connectivity" problem. It looked like Spotify fixed the problem soon after I reported it, but then a couple days later the problem returned. Given that I was a paying to avoid adds, I decided to stop using Spotify until the problem was resolved. It still doesn't look resolved, and I'm still not a Spotify customer anymore.

My guess is that when the app starts it is trying to connect to some website that AdGuard is blocking, and if it doesn't connect it thinks there are "internet connectivity" issues. Doesn't seem like a big problem for Spotify to resolve. Maybe they don't want to resolve it?

I have the same problem and have confirmed it's being triggered by AdGuard DNS settings.

Running on an iPhone with the latest iOS and the latest version of Spotify .

I do not understand why is this a problem for a premium account which is not supposed to show any ads, correct?

My post above has been marked as a "solution" but, as far as I'm concerned, turning off private DNS is a temporary solution to a problem that should be fixed. I'd like to use AdGuard DNS, but at present Spotify is almost unusable with it enabled, so I've had to turn it off. I'd like to be able to turn it back on. I'd like to be able to use AdGuard's DNS, and I have a premium Spotify account, so it's not like I'm trying to block Spotify ads.

Same here, I'm looking for a solution for months now...

As of today, Spotify is not working with AdGuard DNS Filtering (Spotify app is considered offline and is not able to see any Airplay or bluetooth devices).

The only solution I've found is to whilelist a Wi-fi network in DNS filtering parameter.

Which is only a temporary solution...

Anyway, having to find solutions just to use Spotify paid service is unacceptable and a waste of time.

Why Spotify do not work through DNS filtering and safe VPN tunnel ?

Does anyone know specifically which domain Spotify is using that is being blocked? Another workaround would be to unblock just that one domain in AdGuard. It's a workaround, not an ideal solution because a Premium account shouldn't be failing when it cannot reach an ad domain, but at least it would work without disabling AdGuard for anything else.

I have a similar issue. I have whitelisted spotify.com in the AdGuard allowlist, but that didn't fix my problem ,which is that if I use my Android phone with Spotify Premium from my home WiFi network, and leave home, I have to disable AdGuard to stream Spotify content. Once it connects, it appears that i can re-enable AdGuard.
