At Night, How Can I Turn My Android Phone Screen Off, When Listening To Spotify App?

Mainly listening in bed, the screen annoyingly won't go off, so I can listen in the dark falling asleep.

Music paused or off - I can darken my screen.

Music playing - I touch the power button to get a black screen but Spotify immediately forces the screen back on. (also happens even if on another app window)

New Xiaomi android phone. Other android devices, I have don't have this problem.

While i don't have xiaomi phone, spotify should be able to play when the screen is off.
Did you check the settings for forcing the display to be on while playing media?

As @user-removed mentioned, Spotify should continue to play in the background when you're screen is locked without waking it up. We suggest to check on your phone's settings > notifications > Spotify and make sure to disable any option to keep your screen on while locked.
