Equalizer get deactivated automatically

When playing on my mobile, the equalizer automatically get deactivated and I have to activate it manually, then it's on for a while and then it gets deactivated again...anyone?

I have Samsung Galaxy S3. My equalizer/sound effect on spotify automatically turned off after couple seconds everytime I lock the screen of my phone or whenever I exit the sound effect window. I have to stay on that window in order for the sound effect to work. Anybody have the same issue with me? 😞

I have Samsung Galaxy Note and almost the same problem. EQ turns off randomly but especially when random play chooses downloaded song instead of streaming. I use wifi and sometimes 3G connection.

Having the same issue on my S3, really sucks. Hopefully there will be a fix soon.

I have had this problem also. As long as the UI is on the EQ screen, it sounds phenomenal. However, if the screen locks or goes to another page, then the sound goes lame. You can still hear it of course, but at very poor quality vs when the EQ is working. It's like night and day. I hope they fix this soon because Rdio is starting to look a little better these days.

I just changed from Iphone to Samsung S4, and have same problem, extremely annoying. If this is not fixed soon, I have to try Wimp instead... 😞

Why you need equaliser?

Listen music how artist mentioned without any junky effects. If you need more bass, buy better headphones. But listen music without equalisators.

Your device
Device’s Operating System
Is your device rooted?
Are you using a custom ROM, if so which one, exactly?
Your mobile Spotify version
Your mobile provider and country

I frequently had this problem with a Galaxy Player 4.0. It's a media player, not the Galaxy S4 phone, and it runs Anrdoid 2.3.5. As I couldn't find an equalizer built into the relatively old OS, I installed a third party app called "Equalizer". There is a setting in that app that automatically turns on the equalizer when a music player is detected, but it only works with some apps. I turned OFF that switch and had a lot fewer problems with the equalizer shutting off. It would still shut off occasionally but it happened far fewer times after changing that switch.

I suggest trying a different equalizer (pick a free one) just to see if it's something with the equalizer.

I am switching phones (going from HTC EVO V to Nexus 4) and on the Nexus I have had no problems yet with the equalizer shutting off. I am running 4.2.2 on the Nexus and have had no problems so far, after a few days of Spotify listening, with the equalizer shutting off. This might be an OS issue that Spotify can't fix.

Edit: actually, no it's apparently not an OS issue since someone reported the equalizer shutting off using 4.2.2: http://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Equalizer-get-deactivated-automatically/td-p/442690

I have a gs3 and it does this too but it also turns back on by itself sometimes. It varies in how bad it is. Sometimes it turns off as soon as I leave the screen and other times it just turns off when I'm on other screens or have it locked. I have noticed it happens more often if I'm running enough stuff to noticably tax the performance of my phone.

What you should do is go to settings in spotify-settings en put the equalizer off. Then go to the playstore and download music EQ. Works for me 😉

Open (Android) Settings.

Select "Sound".

Select "Music Effects".

If SoundAlive is selected, change to MusicFX.

Equalizer should now be working.
