Hey, Harry

No. I want to be able to use a particular font that I downloaded from a band fan site. I'm even able to use in Microsoft Word. Someone told me about that site, already, but I appreciate it, anyway.

I have even converted the document to a pdf document, then copied and pasted it, but it still doesn't work.

It's recognized in Word, on my computer. It shows up in the fonts section.

Thank you for reaching out to us here in the Community. We're happy to help.

It sounds like the formatting of the font used in Word isn't retained when pasting it in the app. If possible, you could give it a go trying with a different method. For example an online font editor for social media since that might retain the style over to the app when editing your playlist.

Let us know how everything goes so that we can continue to assist you if you need us to. We're always one reply away 🙂

Hey, Jeremy

Thanks. I just tried what pulled up, when I searched for "online font editor for social media", but none of that worked. I can't upload the font on those sites, to even copy them from there. It's a particular font that I downloaded, a while back. I think I had to get it out of a zipped folder or something, which I had to look up how to do. Then I found out how to upload it as a useable font in Word. When I pull up the document anywhere else, but my computer, it doesn't show the text in that font, unless (from my computer) I saved it as a pdf. Even copying the text from that document, it won't paste in the same font.

Do you or anyone else have any other ideas on how to make it work?

That might not work with any font you try to use. However, I just tried copying the text from this site into my playlist and it worked. You can give it a try there or maybe look for some other similar sites.

Hi, Novy

I never stated that Spotify had the option to change fonts. I mentioned that someone has used different fonts on his or her playlist titles. It's obviously possible. I'm just wondering how to do it, with the font that I want. There shouldn't be a difference in copying one font, then it pasting in the same format, as another font doing it.

Here's a playlist with a custom font.

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/08vgNKZIVKHK4rEFqTzOEX?si=9t8WM-QKTFiA6J6ZmeJE0g

If anyone does have any idea of how to do it, please let me know.

Hey @MadmanOnWheels,

What you are trying to do is not possible. There's a difference between a font and special characters which is important to understand. Special characters will almost always look the same regardless of what font is applied to them, where regular letters will change depending on the font that you apply to them, like in Word. Special characters are letters from foreign alphabets, or symbols, for example.

The playlist with the custom font that you've shown above does not actually have a custom font for its title. Instead, the creator probably used a similar online font editor website as has already been linked to above. These sites will find special characters (for example, from foreign alphabets) that look like English alphabet letters. So the playlist creator copied over these special characters to the playlist name which makes it look like the font has changed, where in reality the letters are all special characters. Any normal text (in the regular English alphabet), when copied into the playlist name box, will always be shown in Spotify's custom font. This cannot be changed.

So for you the only way to customise the font is by using one of these websites and finding the closest match, but it won't be possible to use any font file.

Hope that helps.

D

Lots of suggestions here regarding fonts. There is however difference between regular fonts and special characters by Unicode which are called Glyphs. Glyphs are not real fonts but a mere representation of regular fonts (basically lookalikes). If you want to use fancy fonts for instagram there are lots of websites online where you can generate fancy text.

Most of the time when you see “different fonts” in playlist titles, they are not actual fonts. Platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube Music do not allow custom fonts in titles. What people use instead are Unicode characters that look like different fonts.

So when you copy text directly from Word, it usually pastes as plain text, which is why it turns back into the normal font.

Here is what is likely happening.

1. Word fonts are not supported
Fonts such as Times New Roman, Arial, or any custom font only work inside Word or apps that have that font installed. When you paste text into a playlist title field, the platform strips the formatting and keeps only the basic characters.

2. People use Unicode styled text instead
Those “fonts” you see are actually characters from Unicode that look like bold, script, small caps, or aesthetic text. Since they are characters and not formatting, they stay the same when pasted into titles.

Example:

Normal text
Chill Vibes

Unicode styled text
𝓒𝓱𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓥𝓲𝓫𝓮𝓼
𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐕𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐬
𝙲𝚑𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚅𝚒𝚋𝚎𝚜

Because these are different characters, the platform accepts them.

3. Why your copy-paste from Word didn’t work
Word was applying a font style, not changing the characters themselves. When you pasted it, the playlist editor removed the formatting and left only the plain text.

What you should try instead

Use a Unicode text generator online.

Type your playlist name.

Copy the styled version it generates.

Paste that into the playlist title.

That usually works on most music platforms.

One small thing to keep in mind is that some characters may not display correctly on every device, so it is best to keep the title simple and readable.

In short, the trick is not installing a font. The trick is using Unicode characters that look like fonts.

Generate and Thanks me Later!‌‌

What you’re seeing in other playlists isn’t actually custom Word fonts — Spotify doesn’t support real font files in titles. It’s usually Unicode styled text (like bold letters, cursive letters, or aesthetic Instagram-style text).

That’s why copying from Word or a PDF won’t work — those are real fonts, not Unicode characters.

You can generate these styles using tools like Generador de letras which can convert normal text into cursive letras, Instagram bio fonts, or other aesthetic lettering styles, then just copy-paste into your playlist title.
