EDIT: It looks like the global toggle should be coming in the next few weeks. However, I am still concerned this is part of a larger issue with the Autoplay API; see the last paragraph of my reply

Hi @Eni,

The problem here is that it seems despite autoplay not having a toggle for 3rd party clients, for Google Home devices in the past the default setting has been ON, whereas a recent change seems to have turned that OFF. As such, my theory is that this change was done on a backend. Put another way, Spotify changed a default server-side without giving users an option to toggle it. If this is the case, I think everyone here would ask that the default be set for Autoplay to be ON for 3rd party clients until the global setting is implemented.

In addition, I think there might have been a recent Autoplay API change that affected the Tesla client as well. Please see my post here for why I think they might be related: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Issues-with-Spotify-Song-Radio-autoplay-possibly-connected/m-p/5309519#M17620

Plan

Premium

Country

UK

Device

Google Home

Operating System

Android

My Question or Issue

For a long time whenever I would listen to a specific album / song via voice command on my Google Home, Spotify would autoplay a radio based on that song / album / artist after the track ended.

However for the last few weeks, it's now only playing what I requested and then stops the music.

I'm having this issue when selecting a song on the Spotify app and then playing it on Google Home as well as when I use voice commands.

I triple-checked that "Autoplay" in the settings is on, and also "Spotify Connect in the Background". Version is 8.6.82.1113

This is my main used feature and reason for paying for premium, having uninterrupted music all the time. Having to constantly choose a new song or album is tiring and makes me rethink switching to other services.

Please fix this.

Thank you 🙂

Hey there @Neratils,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

We can confirm that currently the Autoplay feature can't be toggled on/off on external devices that don't use the mobile/desktop app such as smart speakers, web player and such.

However, other users have already suggested the possibility to control Autoplay across all platforms and devices, and submitted this live idea.

Reading the linked "live solution" you mention it's being implemented right now but give no ETA.

When can we expect this? I don't want to pay premium for something I can't use effectively.
