My Question or Issue

A few weeks ago when I was going for my walk, I noticed that whenever I would select a new artist to listen to, there would be constant ads almost like, every 5 minutes or so, which is very disruptive to my walk and overall exercise.

Sometimes in the past, whenever I would select a particular album from an artist, it would usually give me the opportunity to watch a particular ad for 30 MINUTES OF UNINTERRUPTED LISTENING, and I'd go 30 minutes without listening to ads. But a few weeks ago on that day, I did not get that choice at all to go 30 minutes without ads.

I'm not sure why that is, but I thought it was a little bit disappointing and distracting to my exercise having to listen to ads every few minutes when I thought that the 30-minute, ad-free option would've given me the choice to go without ads.

The same thing has happened twice this week (on Sunday, and even earlier today). I was expecting to go at least 30 minutes each time without ads, because whenever I go for my walk, I usually would be out for an hour and a half, and I expect there to be at least 90 minutes altogether without interruptions from my music.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app sometime this week, so as to help with the issue, but I was still experiencing the ad-interruption issue today. I probably won't use Spotify on my cell phone again if I can't go at least 30 minutes without interruptions for my daily walk.

We’ll be sure to note your feedback and let the right folks know, however keep in mind that this ad-free experience is not being constantly offered to free users, and this irregularity is somewhat an expected behavior. On-demand ad-watching and its availability is depended on various factors amongst which is the advertisers' own planning agenda as well. If you'd like to permanently get rid of the advertisement interruptions for your daily walks, then you could consider getting our Premium experience here. See if any of the plans there can suit your needs, and also make sure to take advantage of our trial offers (if you've never tried Premium before).
