Slow Download on android

Whenever I choose to download anything it takes extremely long.

It has taken me 5 hours to get halfway on 700 songs.

Before anyone comments I have read similar posts.

1. I have restarted my phone.

2. I have reinstalled the app

3. I have a 100mb/s Fibre line, so the connection is not the problem.

By the way I left my phone connected the whole night.. and it's still downloading... something is not right

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community.

This is a very odd issue indeed. The download shouldn't take that long on WiFi.

What you can try is to set the song download quality lower from the app settings and see if that has any effect.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Downloading for offline will take many minutes if it even works at all. I have a strong Internet connection.

Hi Alex.

I'm still having the same issue I reported earlier. Switching to low quality download didn't make any difference. The problem isn't that it's taking a long time to download, it's that the download won't go through no matter how much time I give it. I don't think the quality of the file being downloaded has any effect.

There's no indication that the download has stopped or failed, just the spinning gray circle of dissatisfaction.

Same, I’ve had it take awhile before but this seems like a bug. Spotify updated last week, and I got a new phone the week before. I’m that middle time it was all good though. iPhone 15Pro

Thanks for your replies.

Just to confirm, is this happening with all content (albums, playlists, podcasts)? Also, does the same happens across devices or only on a specific one?

If this happens only on a specific device, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

On another note, we understand that you have a strong internet connection, but it'd be helpful if you could test with another one to rule out any network-related issue.

We'll be waiting for your replies.

Tried everything you suggested to no avail, but then when I added the album to my library it immediately started downloading.

Still a weird bug, but thanks for leading me to the fix!
