The Spotify app could seriously be better

I use an android and the amount of seemingly obvious features that make no sense being removed are being removed. Why is it not possible to see entire albums while free? The ONLY reason i can think of is to just make the app more inconvenient and less of a nice experience to use. Why can you not preview songs that you are attempting to add to your playlist. In particular, the latter issue has single-handedly made me stop using spotify. Spotify was my main way of discovering new music and making big playlists I enjoy. I genuinely cannot see a reason to remove these features other than to advocate for your own competitors with how terrible the app has become. PLEASE add these features back because otherwise spotify is going on a downhill spiral to the worst company caring about their communities concerns.

The Android App sadly is complete garbage. I used Spotify Premium for years and now switched to another service because it's without exaggeration the worst performing app I had on my phone. Seems to me that Spotify doesn't give a damn about it's Android userbase because I'm hearing about this problem for years and nothing changed.

They don't care about features, just money. The app is missing so many obvious features that I am considering going back to pirating and making my own player app.

I share the sentiments expressed in this thread but it's not just that features aren't working as they are supposed to, it's the lack of trying to improve the app while seemingly deliberately making it worse. Even the basics are crumbling! As an example, the likes are all over the place; many songs I have liked have had the likes removed & with nearly 10k individually 'liked' songs, it's incredibly frustrating to find out that songs I've previously (recently or otherwise) liked have been removed from my liked songs list. Coupled with this, the liked heart symbol doesn't fill up green when pressing it & it also doesn't show up in the list as it did before. It has been like this for quite some time & no recent updates have addressed this. I've asked a lot of people if they're experiencing the same thing & they all say "Yes, why are they removing my liked songs? It's so annoying!". We all predominantly use the Spotify platform to share our music between ourselves & play games so to have songs removed from likes or even playlists, as I've found, is incredibly grating. To also have to re-add songs is even more maddening with the possibility of forgetting songs previously liked. There are, as you no doubt are aware, many more errors with the app that haven't been addressed & some of us have been directed to other apps like TIDAL or Deezer to avoid these mistakes while also wanting to support the artist as we're all aware Spotify pays their artists the least amount of money compared to all other platforms of the same ilk.

Then there's all the times the app won't load & I have to close & re-open following a message saying 'Something went wrong'. Even trying to post this reply I'm met with 'Unexpected error while posting'...

I've been paying since like what, 2016? The app has been garbage ever since. Luckily today i hit my breaking point and switched to a french competitor starting with D. Flow alone makes it worth it.

Before trying most of the rival apps on Android, Spotify has the worst app by far. It lacks animations, transitions and features that makes the app experience like using an app from 2010. It is like using a web app that works but with a horrible experience because everything feels slow. It doesn't matter if you are using a cheap phone or a flagship, the experience is the same.

The Spotify app doesn’t even let me play the SONGS I WANT. LIKE THE POINT OF AN ONLINE MUSIC SERVICE IS TO LISTEN TO THE SONGS I WANT. WHY CANT I SKIP SONGS? It’s so DELIBERATE AND ANNOYING AnD CLEARLY AN EFFORT TO GET USERS TO BUY PREMIUM. I dealt with the ads but with Spotify adding more restrictions I’m not using it anymore.

Subscribed to the service and unsubscribing today due to the extremely poor service. Mid way through every song it just stops with an error message "Can't play this song now" message. Extremely frustrating considering that I have tried every fix possible and nothing seems to fix the issue. So in short, good riddance to Spotify, would rather stick with the tried and tested Deezer and Tidal offerings.

Spotify is the most crappy music app I have ever used it is very frustrating trying to listen to music that is slightly sped up and higher pitch I have changed headphones and it’s not a problem with my phone it’s only with Spotify I have searched and searched for a answer I reinstalled Spotify everything also having to go through a full playlist just to try to add a song to a playlist there are so many problems with it to I’m surprised people still put up with this dumb app many of the points made by people in this thread are very valid and make sense at this point Spotify is nothing but a money trap it dosent even worn properly

For me it's the way it often only streams for a couple of seconds before stopping on either PC and Android. I have to reboot or remove Bluetooth on PC and that doesn't always work. Restarting or deleting cache doesn't always work. I'm told it;;s something to do with how PC and And apps relate. It's the reason I'm leaving Spotify.

“Always trying to improve” shut your lying ass up, I can’t even put a playlist on without the app playing music that I don’t wanna hear**bleep** that ain’t even on my playlist, Spotify is garbage, I’m praying that someone who actually cares about there customers makes a music app

As an iOS user, I've been using Spotify Premium for 5-6 years now, and I've noticed that the service is getting worse and worse since the past year or two. They removed the easy-to-use heart button for some + button that makes adding songs to liked playlist needlessly confusing. They also removed the useful feature where you can add songs to the liked playlist from the lock screen. That was very frustrating, especially when I'm driving and I want to quickly save a song that I like without keeping my eyes off the road for too long. The UI has become very cluttered, messy, and very difficult to navigate - very bad to use while driving. The Shuffle feature still doesn't properly shuffle songs; it plays the same few songs over and over again. And it's hard to search for new genres of music now since they changed up the UI to a less user-friendly interface, and the search tab is cluttered up with a lot of God-knows-what. I've become very frustrated with the service, and I've been slowly drifting away. I'm now trying other music streaming platforms. So far, I like Apple Music the best. But it's so sad because Spotify still has a few features that I find very valuable, and I have 5-6 years of saved music and an algorithm that knows the type of music I like. But it's hard to use now, and I find myself very reluctant to open the app. I only keep the subscription around because I got the student plan three years ago and I get free access to Hulu. But when the student plan runs out, I'm not resubscribing to Spotify Premium.

I'm highly considering to just completely switch from Spotify to YouTube music, just because the phone app is so terrible. You used to be able do dup playlist (I was trying to create one to help with randomization). Because the Spotify randomization is terrible on the phone all. I'll switch from one playlist to the other, and I'll hear the same songs in a 50+ hour playlist. I'm sure there are songs in said playlist that aren't listened to because the shuffle only plays the most played. I purchased the sub to get away from "radio repeat" like music. Not to hear the same songs after switching from playlist #1, to playlist #2, to playlist #1 again. So they removed the dupping of playlist and they also removed the " you already have a copy of said song in their playlist, continue or switch" because multiple albums for example deluxe albums have the same songs as original.
