Spotify keeps closing when playing in the background.

My Question or Issue

Spotify keeps stopping whenever it is running in the background or when my phone screen turns off. It's been happening for years and on other phones I have used. So much so that I just don't use Spotify that much anymore and just use Amazon Prime Music. However, I like the content on Spotify and I have Playlist saved. Can someone help me with the ongoing problem.

BTW, I've repeatedly cleared my cache in hopes of that helping but to no avail, it does nothing to help.

I'm running Spotify App version. 8.8.70.532

Hey there @1210530278,

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community!

First up, we suggest that you open your phone Settings > Apps > look for Spotify and tap on it > open the section called Battery > toggle on Unrestricted.

Additionally, it's also a good idea to exclude the app from any Battery optimization software that might be active on your smartphone and make sure to check that the "Allow background data usage" setting is toggled on for Spotify as well.

It seems that this may have fixed the problem. I've listened to Spotify "uninterrupted" all day today.
