[Android] Issues opening song link shared through Whatsapp

For the past few months, whenever someone shares a link to a spotify song on Whatsapp, when I click on the link, it opens the Spotify app, but the song never starts playing. The app stays on the home screen, and the currently playing song does not change.

Some details :
- device : Android 12 - Samsung S10e - One UI version 4.1
- Spotify version : 8.8.74.652

This was not a problem a few months ago, I regularly shared songs through links with friends and family through whatsapp and noticed the problem a couple months ago. My friends/family don't seem to have the same problem as me.

Thing I have tried to troubleshoot :
- Force stop spotify & restart my phone

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community. It sounds like you've tried a couple of things already, but let's try some more troubleshooting.

We'd suggest that you try logging out and then logging back in twice in a row. This will force a sync between your device and the account.

It's also a good idea to check the phone's battery settings and make sure that Spotify is set as an exception if you're using the battery optimization option.

In case you're still having issues when opening song links, you can try performing a clean reinstall of the app by following this guide. We recommend this step since it gets you the latest app version and removes corrupted data from previous installations that could be causing issues with the app's performance on your device.
