So we have to manually create an automation for every song or artist we ever want to listen to because spotify can't usefully respond to google assistant? Really this is an acceptable answer? Please explain what spotify cannot do this via Google assistant? I'm curious if this is the same with Apple Siri

Plan

Premium

Country

France

Device

OnePlus 5, Android Auto, 2x Google Home, Sonos One

My Question or Issue

Hello,

I have linked Spotify with Google Assistant, to launch music via voice commands on my Google Home and Sonos speakers, as well as in Android Auto. Recently, I have seen that the voice commands didn't launch the expected artist (it used to work with the same artists). Instead, it launches a weird playlist from another artist with the same name:

Instead of Angèle (https://open.spotify.com/artist/3QVolfxko2UyCOtexhVTli?si=i8eEuEl0ScmpH8cSadQpjg), the famous Belgian singer, it opens this playlist with one title and barely no listeners (https://open.spotify.com/artist/27ALErfZCDiV0FOt5Pkpqa?si=In222mFESMmp5m54_uYojg&utm_source=copy-link)

Instead of Sia (https://open.spotify.com/artist/5WUlDfRSoLAfcVSX1WnrxN?si=XF2r7u3aRom0sxO5FfmOGg), one of these two playlists are randomly played (https://open.spotify.com/artist/1hP7FHieMakh44E1edH89w?si=6u68hne6QZCkifQgUKn9YQ&utm_source=copy-link) or (https://open.spotify.com/artist/6vYYsmA7fdkIGOCPjAM7hM?si=Ng-AUuO1Ts2mY1qCOIbmBQ&utm_source=copy-link).

Is this a bug ? I obviously don't want to listen to these playlists.

Thanks for your help.

PS: Yes, everything is up to date.

Hey there @mat4444!

Thanks for reaching out to us in the Community! This sounds quite odd and we'll do our best to help you.

We can try refreshing the link between Spotify and Google assistant. You can start by unlinking the Spotify accounts in the Google Home App:

Click on the plus “+” in the upper right corner

Click on ‘’Music’’

Select ‘’No default provide’’

Under ‘’Spotify’’ click on ‘’Unlink

Remove the Google Home on the Spotify Website. www.spotify.com/account/apps

Then you can follow the steps here to link your account again.

If you'd like you can also try setting up routines to make sure that the correct artist and playlist is played when you say their name.

To do that:

Open the Google Home app and tap Routines (purple moon/sun icon) then tap Manage routines at the bottom.

Tap the + icon in the lower right corner.

Under When I say... tap Add starter > Voice command and enter the trigger phrase you want to use

Under +Add action > Play and control media > Music where you can write the name of the artist

Tap Save

Keep us posted on how it goes and feel free to come back to us if you have any other questions.
