"Autoplay" option missing from "Settings" page

My Question or Issue

Up until recently (around 12/1/2023), "Autoplay" (or was it "AutoRepeat"?) in "Settings" was set to Off, as was "Autoplay similar content". When an album finished, there was silence. That is my desired behavior.

Now when an album completes, it automatically repeats. The "Autoplay" option is no longer present on the "Settings" page.

When searching this community for an answer, all the posts refer to this "Autoplay" option, as though it should be present.

Note that I do **not** use Spotify on any other devices, including my laptop. When I did open Spotify in a browser, there are no Autoplay settings.

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

It sounds like the behavior described is due to the on repeat option. This option can be found in the Now Playing View and looks like this:

When the on repeat option is enabled, any playlist/album you play will be repeated. We suggest you double-check if this option is disabled. To do it, you just need to tap the icon twice. One tap will activate the loop option, two will disable both options. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

If you're unable to deactivate this feature (or if after disabling this behavior continues), we'd recommend you log out and log in twice in a row onto your Spotify account. This could sound a little bit odd, but this way the system will force a re-sync of your account in general.

Lastly, if this continues to happen, would you mind sending us the exact Spotify version you're running there? It'd be awesome if you could send us some screenshots of this behavior, so we can better visualize what's happening on your side.

AlejaR. Repeat is not what the OP was asking about. THE AUTOPLAY toggle is not longer in settings. User no longer have the ability to disable Autoplay.

The Web Player doesn't support the Autoplay feature at the moment, and in general has limited features compared to the Spotify app. We’re regularly looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone though, so your feedback on this is greatly appreciated.

The Autoplay option is available in the Spotify app's settings:

Desktop:

Click on your profile picture at the top right corner and select Settings.
Scroll down to Autoplay and switch it on or off.

Mobile:

Swipe left or tap your profile picture at the top left corner.
Tap Settings and privacy.
Under Playback, scroll down to Autoplay and switch it on or off.

All The answers to this problem online say the same thing

These answers recommend to turn off autoplay however autoplay is only specifically related to when you choose a song and that song ends autoplay will choose similar content and automatically play similar content

My question is when my car starts or I connect my phone to Bluetooth Spotify begins to play and I find it very frustrating especially if I have passengers

Is there any way whatsoever that I can turn off Spotify automatically playing once it connects to my car Bluetooth

On my Redmi 9c phone, even though the autoplay option is turned on in Spotify, the song does not continue automatically when it ends.

I went to the support section to find out how to turn autoplay off and it said to click profile picture and go into settings and then toggle autoplay from on to off.

However, there is no autoplay settings in settings. This advice is ridiculous as there is no option for disabling autoplay on desktop. I already have the autoplay disabled on my phone Spotify app but it continues to play autoplay songs regardless, and now there is no option for disabling it on the desktop browser site either.

I am going insane with these crappy songs autoplaying after my podcasts finish. I need this to stop or I will escalate this. This is beyond ridiculous and is pretty much torturous to some of us.

I have a correction to make about Autoplay in the Web Player (browser):

The Web Player in the browser does support Autoplay, but you cannot currently change this setting from the Web Player.

The Autoplay setting is only available in the desktop app (full downloaded app, not the web player in the browser) and the mobile app. It is an account setting, so once you enable it in one of these apps, the other apps including the Web Player in the browser will respect the Autoplay setting you have chosen (on or off).
