My Question or Issue

I had a sudden increase in data usage caused by Spotify. Within a matter of hours the app managed to download 9gb of data. What seem to have happened is that it started downloading my liked songs over mobile network. I changed no settings, not did I select to download my liked songs.

This appears to be a bug that has cost me my data allowance.

Here are some tips to reduce mobile data usage:

If you have Premium, download music to listen offline.
Tip: Make sure the app only downloads when connected to WiFi, switch Download using cellular off in the app’s settings (under Music Quality).
Check your Music Quality. Higher quality music uses more data.
Switch Autoplay off in your app’s settings. This stops it playing after what you’ve selected.
Use WiFi when using the app abroad. Check your mobile data plan to learn about roaming charges.
Your device may have its own data saver. Check the support site for your device.

Same has happened to me. My data for the month has been TRASHED in one day. Spotify has used 5GB of data. WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?

Question or Issue

Hello,

I'm having a problem with Spotify using an enormous amount of mobile data, even though the audio quality is set to low. I have just listened to a podcast and after 20 minutes Spotify has used up almost 500 MB (!) of data. What could be the reason for this?

Spotify consuming 10GB of data in 2 days

Hi, I’ve never had this problem before.
Normally, Spotify uses about 1GB of data per month.

However, over the past two days, around 5GB per day has suddenly been consumed.

I haven't done anything differently. I listen to music in the car on my way to and from work (about 30 minutes). I have the setting enabled to download content only via Wi-Fi, and according to the data storage settings, no songs or playlists have been downloaded, so there shouldn’t have been any downloads in the past two days.

I know I could use offline mode, but I like using Smart Shuffle, and with 1-2GB per month, this has never been an issue before.

Does anyone have an idea

Same problem here, 680MB last month, 8GB in the last 2 days. Removed all offline playlists, cleared cache and downloaded everything again over WiFi, but it ate through data again today. Ended up leaving it in offline mode.

Tonight Spotify used up 7,5 GB in 40 minutes while I was listening to music while driving my car.
This drained my Mobile Databundle.

This has never happened before. I always listen to podcast while driving.

I have no clue what happened and how I can prevent this in the future.
