"Playing recommended songs for you" is caused by the Autoplay feature: when an album/playlist/podcast finishes playing, Autoplay generates a new queue with similar content so that the playback never ends. You can disable it in the app's Settings > Playback.

I doubt that’s what they’re asking.

When you open the Spotify app (iOS) at the moment, at least once or twice a week there’s a “recommended for you” window advert at the top of all screens, recommending something (eg a new gig or album from an artist in your playlists)

Theres no way of getting this window to disappear without engaging with each one (clicking a cross)

Turning everything off in the “Notifications” setting on Spotify has no effect.

Its irritating paying for an expensive app subscription and being forced adverts like this.

that didn't work at all. I turned off the setting "autoplay similar content" and it's still playing songs that aren't on my playlist. In fact, it's ONLY playing songs that aren't on my playlist, and it's super annoyng.

Even if I have auto play off it will still play songs I don’t want it to and I don’t like most of them

it just won’t stop sometimes I try to play Justine particular song and it plays something else

Autoplay should play similar artists and genres. Chappelle Roan and the rest of Top 40 has nothing to with Primus, 9 inch Nails or any of my listening history except one time.

Hey folks,

If you're on free, note that Spotify will automatically add songs to your playlist if there are less than 15 tracks in it, so to bypass this, try increasing the playlist's duration by adding more tracks.

In case you have Premium, it's possible that Smart Shuffle feature is turned on: it adds songs recommendations to the current queue. More info on how to turn it off can be found in this article.

If you're referring to the pop-up suggestions, some of them can be dismissed by following the steps from the status update here.

That's not my issue. Your "recommended music" shouldn't be interrupting my podcast listening. I don't need Billie Elish or whatever blaring out of nowhere when I'm expecting the next episode of news show to start instead. Fix the issue that wasn't a problem for YEARS until now.

No, it doesn't clear things up because sometimes even when you have way more than fifteen songs it won't stop playing songs that aren't on your playlist. That's the problem!

I am paying for Spotify. I kept skipping the recommendations *hoping* it would get the message. It did not. I've done the following:

- turned off the autoplay feature
- disabled smart shuffle

Spotify recommends is pissing me off and messing up my music. I don't want to hear what it recommends. I want to listen to my music on the service I'm paying for. Removing this feature ASAP.

Another thing with this stupid Spotify recommends thing...I click "remove recommendation" and it still keeps coming back. This feature is buggy and there's no way to kill it. Get rid of this thing

Bro please, I have like 30 songs in my playlist and it started playing recommended songs and I’ve been skipping for hours but it won’t go back to my regular playlist no matter what. Not if I re-open the app, not if I play something else then come back, nothing.

I have a Spotify account so not sure about free version but I have seemed to fix the problem for now. I turned off "Autoplay similar content" and "Automix" from the Playback settings. I closed the app and reopened it. The "playing recommended songs" was still at top of my playlist so I clicked on a new song to start with (from playlist) and the message disappeared. I still have shuffle selected and it's shuffling through my playlist properly without recommended songs. My playlist is over 2 hours long so not sure if this will continue to work once it has played through all the songs but for now I have gotten rid of the "playing recommended songs".

This is so annoying to deal with and needs to be addressed, i hate it when spotify adds songs to my playlist. Yes I have over 15 songs in a playlist but they still add recommended songs, at this point turn it off for mobile users and this is such a scam to buy spotify premium!!
