Live events has my correct location but is showing me events hours away. How do I correct this?

You change the location for the Live events from the app by following the steps in this article. Just select the device you're doing it from and see the steps to Change location.

I just wanted to pop here and complete the info we gave you. You mentioned having the correct location set for the Live Events on the app. If that's the case and you only see events that are hours away, it's most likely because, at the moment, there are no shows registered on Spotify that are closer to your location.

However, if you'd like to have an option to set a more accurate radius that shows Live events around you, you can submit an idea, making sure you follow our Community guidelines.

I get notifications for live events in a city/country I don't live in anymore. How do I change that? i tried looking it up but the info seems outdated, the app doesn't show it on the search option anymore for example.

Hi Susan, is there a way to set up the Live Events Feed to "only" show events in your city?

I also run into the issue where I get email locations for events that are hours away. My city is correctly set, but I live in proximity to Vancouver and Seattle, which take up 90% of the shows emailed to me or show in the Live Events Feed. When I search through the app I have to go through many shows that don't apply to me to find the "needle in the haystack" for shows that play in my city, which is often a huge waste of time.

Is there any way to disable nearby cities and have live events only shown for the city you reside in?

The Problem
Spotify’s algorithm is great at matching your taste — but it completely ignores where you live. Local artists who are performing in your city, building a fanbase from the ground up, have almost no way to reach listeners who are right there with them. They get lost in a catalog of 8 million+ artists with no geographic filter to help them surface.
The Idea
Add a “Local Scene” section to Spotify that surfaces artists based in your city. Think of it like Discover Weekly, but filtered by location. This could include a weekly-refreshed Local Scene playlist, a city trending chart showing which local acts are gaining momentum, and integration with Spotify’s existing concert ticketing so listeners can go from stream to show in one tap.
How it would work
∙ Listeners opt in and set their city (no GPS required)
∙ Artists verify their base city through Spotify for Artists
∙ Spotify’s existing algorithm blends taste + location to recommend artists you’d actually like — just ones playing in your backyard
Why Spotify should build this
Local artists who build hometown fanbases are more loyal to the platform and drive fans to it. It also opens up a stronger pipeline for Spotify’s concert ticket sales — fans discovering a local artist are far more likely to attend a show. No major streaming platform does this yet. It’s a wide open space.
The ask is simple — a city field on artist profiles, a location opt-in for listeners, and a Local Scene playlist. The infrastructure is already there. This is a feature add, not a rebuild.
Every global superstar started as someone’s local favorite. Let’s help Spotify find the next one
