My Question or Issue: This act just recently started! Where all my spotify playback settings become grayed out! whenever attempting to play spotify through any of my Amazon (alexa) Echo devices! Keeping in mind I have used these devices for serveral years without this issue! However! Spotify will play on any other devices! featuring all playback settings!

We can confirm that it's an expected behavior that the playback options are grayed-out while using Connect via Wi-Fi on a mobile device. However, the options will be available if you're connecting a device via Bluetooth as this doesn't change the playback to a different device. We appreciate your feedback regarding this function.

If you think other users would like the playback options available while using connect, we'd recommend posting it as an idea in our Idea Exchange board so it can be voted on and eventually reach the relevant departments to be taken into account. We'd also recommend taking our guidelines into account before posting it to avoid early rejections.

If anything else comes up, the Community is just a post away.

Just checking: in this case, should we set the audio settings directly on the device that is connected to Spotify, right?

The playback settings will take effect anyways?

I'm afraid that the grayed-out settings are not available on Spotify Connect-enabled smart speakers. As a workaround, you can try connecting through Bluetooth if your device supports it.

Here's a relevant idea you can vote for if you're interested in using Crossfade specifically.

Sorry for delay! Yes! Connecting the device through Bluetooth will allow
access to the settings within Spotify! It will also allow a jam session with
all connected devices! Please keep in mind when commanding Alexa to play
Spotify! you will not have access to setting unless you reestablish the
Bluetooth connection!
