My Question or Issue

Since the latest version of the Spotify app was upgraded, Spotify no longer responds to voice commands from Google. Google will indicate it understands a command to play a give track on Spotify, but then Spotify throws an error saying it can't understand the command and doesn't play the track like it did before.

How can I get Spotify to again understand voice commands in AAOS?

Hey @rairan,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Could you try performing a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on the affected device? Here is how to do one.

It is also important to try and reproduce the issue via the app on the phone and see if Spotify starts playing via a voice command through the Google assistant.

Could you also check for updates on the firmware of the device in the car or reset it to its factory settings?

Thanks. Tried logging out/logging back in, clearing the cache, and uninstalling/reinstalling the app in the car. No updates are listed for the car app. Still not able to get it to respond to voice control.

Also tried doing this through my phone - an iPhone. Siri is able to start spotify and play a given song. Google Assistant, which I never use on the phone, says I need to install the Spotify app - which is already installed. Is that the expected behavior?

I seem to be having the same issue, in my Polestar 2 when I am in Spotify there is a message at the top that says "Something went wrong with the voice command"
Google Assistant on my Android phone works fine so seems to be something with the Automotive version?

Could you confirm the exact OS version (Polestar and phone), and Spotify version installed?

On another note, tell us if the issue persists when using a different phone with your Polestar car audio system.

Hi, The Polestar version details below.

Android Automotive Version: 11

Security Update Version: 1st December 2021

Polestar Version: P2.0

Spotify Version: 4.3.0.3

Spotify was updated in April 2022.

I don't think the phone has any relevance because the car doesn't use the phone, I can use Spotify fine in the car without the phone in the car. Except obviously the voice commands.

Spotify Version: 8.7.30.1221 (Phone)

Voice commands for everything else is fine it is just Spotify.

Using Android Auto still needs your mobile phone to connect it to your vehicle's stereo system. To get more info on how it works, visit this page here.

Please also keep in mind that we only provide the API with which the assistant interacts. How the Polestar 2/Google Assistant interpret voice commands and what they do with those is based on the programming by their developers, so for additional help and suggestions it's best to contact the manufacturer of the system/assistant. So you can visit Android Auto's Help Centre and Community to learn more about their app and get help.

Hi,

I think things might be getting confused. Android Auto yes requires a mobile phone. However Android Automotive is different, Android Automotive built in to the cars infotainment system.

our version of the issue has changed a bit. For one of us logged into their account the Google Assistant works. While for another of us it still doesn’t work.

is there something about a login profile that needs to be adjusted?

and repeating that this is an issue with the Android Automotive version of the Spotify App. Android Automotive is not the same as Android Auto. Android Automotive runs natively in the car’s computer while Android Auto runs from one’s phone and is mirrored in the car display/audio.

Unable to choose song on rlink system

My Question or Issue

I'm logged in to spotify with premium account on my Renault rlink system. When I asked google "play me <song title>", it replies that I need an Spotify premium account to be able to ask for songs and it instead it plays the song radio.

I can search by songs by typing on the Spotify search box, and I can ask Google for albums and artists but not songs.

I've tried reinstalling the app, no luck. Any ideas ?

Koupili jsme si nové auto s Android Auto. Zpočátku jsem mohl vyhledat jakoukoli skladbu ve Spotify pomocí svého hlasu. Před pár dny ale vyhledávání přestalo fungovat. Když zadám název skladby, nezobrazí se mi skladba, pouze návrh interpretů nebo seznamů skladeb. Proč se to stalo a jak to vyřešit? Děkuju
