I have no other devices to try. Even if it is my device, my newish Android
S23, Spotify has the software, version, hardware, etc, should make their
software adaptable to this phone. I don't use anything, the Spotify
software launches ON ITS OWN.

I will try the logging and and out.

GalaxyS23
SM-S911U

One UI version 6.1
Android 14

Any time I connect to any of my 3 cars, 3 different years, and 3 different stereo, Spotify will start itself and play. No one can figure it why this is happening going on 2 years now. All I have to do is hit media and whatever spotify was playing last, will just boot up and play. No amount of cache clearing, re-downloading, or logging in under a spotify support account will work. Lately this is getting worse which is why I'm bringing it up for the 3rd time. If I open TikTok as shown, I can hit pause on my cat system and tiktok would resume. Spotify keeps resuming on its own. This is a code issue as there is NO other explanation.

Hi Lionbacker24,

Could I get some more information? Are you connecting to your car via Android Auto or just a Bluetooth connection to a stereo?

Does your car run an aftermarket Android stereo?

If there is anything else you think could be relevant, please include that as well and I'll see if we can get a solution for you!

Cheers,

Just Bluetooth. No after market. Have an 2007 Scion, 2022 Ram 1500, 2023
Ram 3500...as soon as I select media in anyone of these vehicles, it just
plays. Now it's overtaking and not stopping. Before I used to hit pause and
Spotify would stop. Now it sometimes just keeps playing even after pausing
and CLOSING the program.

Hey @Lionbacker24,

Thanks for the reply!

Have you tested this out on a different device and if not, can you give it a try to see if the issue persists? In case you're using a Spotify widget and that's where you're trying to control the music from and not directly from the app, can you remove it to see if that makes a difference?

Another thing I'd recommend is logging out and back in twice in a row to trigger a sync between your device and account. Also, it'd be great if you can let us know your device's make and model, as well as the OS version it's currently running.

Take care.

Hey @Lionbacker24,

Thanks for your reply.

The behavior that playback starts when connected to car Bluetooth sounds similar to the one in this thread, where we explain why this might be happening. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us and will make sure to pass it onto the right team, as we always strive to improve your experience.

Regarding the issue that the playback won't stop even if you hit pause, we'd suggest that you try logging out and logging back in twice in a row as @Dessi mentioned previously. Also, you mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?

Keep us posted on how it goes.

These steps would help us determine if the issue is device or account related.

We'll be waiting for your reply.

Ok. My wife tried logging in with her phone. Same thing. I tried my
brother's account, same thing. As soon as I hit media in any vehicle,
Spotify automatically plays. Program is closed. So it opens itself up and
plays.

S25 ultra in a lexus 2022 model and this issue is driving me insane!! Every time I start my car Spotify auto plays my music. I stopped auto play in android auto, disconnected audio from my car, unchecked every settings in my phone, restricted background usage. I have literally done everything to stop it from auto playing. I cleared the cash, cleared all data, reinstalled the app many time, unpaired the device(it would work for a few times but as soon as I open Spotify the issue comes back again) I am so frustrated that I'll cancel my subscription and delete the app entirely!!!! I searched every where for a solution and no one knows how to fix it.
