topic Repeated interrupts to playback in Android

A few weeks ago I switched off background usage for the Spotify app because it was draining my battery (Pixel 9) rapidly, even when not using the app.

Since then I get repeated interrupts to playback, as if there is a delay in loading or buffering the music. The error message states “ That didn’t work right. Let’s refresh or play something that is available offline.”I could possibly understand if I am streaming (but not really, cos I have 800 mbps and even reducing the streaming quality doesn’t stop the problem). However, I also getting this when playing downloaded music. How can this be happening if I am playing music offline?!?

Hey @woodandrew90,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community about this.

That's an odd behavior since the app should work properly when offline if you're only limiting the background data usage. So to start investigating this issue, would you mind confirming if keeping the app focused makes any difference than leaving them in the background while using another app?

Also, could you check if turning ON the background usage makes any difference with the playback quality?

Lastly, could you have someone log in with their account on your device (such as a friend or relative) to see if the issue persists?

We'll be waiting for your response.
