Spotify 9.1.80.2221

With Smart Shuffle enabled, playback stops after a few songs. Sometimes Spotify still shows “playing” but there is no audio. Normal Shuffle works fine.

This happens with both Liked Songs and regular playlists, including downloaded songs. Reinstalling, clearing cache, disabling battery optimization and Automix did not help. Smart Shuffle works normally on my iPhone with the same account.

Workaround: Setting Crossfade to 2 seconds fixed the problem. With Crossfade off/minimum, the issue returns.

If you have the same problem, try Crossfade at 2 seconds or longer.

Kudos for all the troubleshooting you've tried! Just to confirm, does this happen over Wi-Fi? 4G/5G? Both? Do you notice any difference if you switch the internet network you're using? If possible, connect the device to a hotspot and see how it goes.

We'd also like to gather some additional info. Please let us know:

Did this start happening after a specific event, such as an OS update?
Does it only happen when the device is connected to a specific Bluetooth device?
