Samsung Galaxy refresh rate issue

My Question or Issue

My issue is that the lyrics Appears on the lyrics page in the Appear choppy or laggy and that's because the device changes the Refresh rate to 24hz

But this isn't a problem on other music apps for example Apple music where lyrics appear at 120hz

This is actually a prevalent issue as I have reported a long time ago too

As a Premium user, This is extremely annoying to put up with and I hope this problem actually see an end

I have deleted and reinstalled the App

I have tried clearing cache

I have tried all the basic steps that you might advice

Thanks for flagging this again.

We were able to find your previous post about your tablet. Can you let us know if you're still experiencing the same there?

If that's the case, can you specify if the issue only occurs in connection to lyrics or no matter what you're doing in the app?

Something you can try as a workaround is reducing the refresh rate. Here are the steps you can follow to do that:

Fully close all open apps.
Open Settings on your phone.
Tap Display & Brightness.
Select Screen Refresh Rate.
Switch from High (120Hz) to Standard (60Hz) or Auto-switch.
Launch Spotify and monitor how it behaves.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Well the refresh rate remains 120hz when I am interracting with the ui ofcourse and drops to lower refresh rates when I am not which is an expected behaviour all phones do this

But previously when you are on the lyrics area it used to only drop to 60hz which was smooth enough honestly but now it drops to 24hz

I can't say the exact date but this issue occured after 15th of August 2026

Changing the refresh rate of my device to 60hz makes no difference,it still drops to 24hz

Thanks for giving it a try.

Does that only happen for you when it comes to lyrics? We found a similar issue in this thread that's already been reported.

Additionally, do you still have the same issue on your tablet? If that's the case, can you send us its model and OS version together with the Spotify versions of both your devices?

We'd also appreciate if you could send us a video of the issue so we can get a better overview of the situation.

so here's is a video sorry had to keep it so short and at 2x speed cause of the 5 mb requirement,

my problem isn't similar to the thread u mentioned above, my device isn't struggling to render the lyrics also the problem is still there on my tablet

My tablet is the Galaxy Tab S8 one ui 8/ android 16

my phone is Galaxy S25 Ultra one ui 8/android 16

i am using no betas software and my spotify version is 9.1.80.2221

Thanks for the reply and for the video provided.

It's possible that some sort of battery optimization settings or similar are causing something like this, as I do notice in the footage that the framerate is at 24 Hz only when the lyrics are still and jumps to 60 Hz when a transition happens. Could you try excluding Spotify from any battery saver options you have on your device and see if that makes a difference? Perhaps this article can help you with that.

Well, as you can see, there's no battery limitations on Spotify, and as I have said before, this wasn't a problem before.

Thanks for the reply.

We've gone ahead and reported this internally so it can be investigated further. We'll keep you posted on updates if and when we have them. In the meantime, if you can please record another video, perhaps a longer one to better showcase the issue especially compared to how the normal UI behaves outside of lyrics. Make sure the video is recorded at normal speed so the issue can be viewed clearly. If you could also make a video from the tablet so we can compare, that would help a lot too. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.
