Interrupted shuffle on HTC One V

I'm running (free) shuffle play on my Android phone with my starred playlist, but it stops after every 4th song. I can start it again by hitting the play button. Then, it will play the last song played again before moving on (and then stopping again after three more songs).

Is there a problem with the phone shutting down. I thought that might be it, but it seems to happen even when the phone is awake.
