1. Search suggestions for artist, album, playlist like the iOS version when you start a search.
2. Show search history when you tap on search.

We did have search history but then it vanished. I understand that an updated search on android is in the pipeline but, sadly, no timescales.

Yep, this was a feature we had, but then it was taken away for no apparent reason about seven months ago. And Spotify has refused to acknowledge it. There are plenty of rumors it will come back, but nothing official. Join in the fun here: http://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Search-history-on-Andriod/td-p/575104

And by fun, I mean being ignored for months on end and confirmation that Spotify support has as much influence/interaction with the Spotify dev team as Caesar's ghost.
