That's a connect feature to enable the seamless switching of playback between devices. There are two background spotify processes, one to pick up any notifications and the other to make connect work.

I'm not sure if this is a normal behavior, but it's incredibly annoying. On my Galaxy S4 (newest OS version and Spotify app version), when Spotify is used on my iPhone, iPad, Roku, etc, the Galaxy S4 turns on the Spotify notification and shows me every song that's playing on the other device. If I'm not listening to music on the Galaxy, I don't care what song is playing on the other device. The only solution is to quit the Spotify app, but eventually the notification comes back. Anyone else notice this?
