Unable to upgrade Spotify

I have an active subscription to Spotify. When I start Spotify om ny HTC One I get a message that I need to upgrade. Fine. U click the Upgrade now button. However, since I am currently in Croatia I am told that the app is not available in my area.
This annoys me endlessly. The app is already installed on my device, the area I am in should not matter in my opinion. Is there a way I can get updated Spotify?

Unfortunately it is because the new update is a completely new app in the store which (as always) in only available in regions where Spotify is available.

It's worth trying to see if you can install the new version manually using the "manual" option on the mobile site?
