I just recieved a 15MB update on Android 4.3 on my S4, and first thing I did was test Spotify with the Equalizer app. To my surpise the EQ seems to work again and doesn't cause Spotify to play without any sound. Let's hope it stays that way

Hi, did you change your settings or something like that after installing that update? Do you use a third party equalizer?
I'm asking because I also received an update for my Samsung account (samsung s4 with android 4.3) yesterday but the equalizer still doesn't work.
I did restart my phone but to no avail 😞

Yes, third party app called Equalizer. Didn't change anything just turned the equalizer back on cause I had it switched off. Phone restart happens automatic when updating.

What size update did you recieve? I had a 370MB update about a week earlier and that didnt fix it, but the 15MB update did.

I recieved 1 update, it was around 370MB indeed. That is the only update I recieved. Spotify updated twice last week but that didn't fix it. Also no 3rd-party equalizer does work.
Guess I have to wait for that small update.

Ugh. I just bought a Galaxy S4 and can't believe Equalizer doesn't work with it! My phone gets more Spotify use then my computer, so this is totally unacceptable. Even streamed at Extreme levels, the music sounds like garbage through my headphones without an EQ to adjust the mids.I may end up returning the phone. Blech.
