Download over 4G

I have turned of "Download over 2G/3G".

But when I'm connected to 4G (No wifi connection active) I can still browse and play music that is not downloaded to my device.

But I can not download playlists to my device, only over wifi

How come I can stream music when on 4G, I guess this is not by design?

Download is very specific - turning this option off prevents the app from downloading music when new tracks are added to a playlist you have made available offline, for example. Streaming still works but you can put spotify into offline mode from the settings screen if that's not what you want.

You can also filter your music to display only offline content in most views by swiping down to reveal the filter options.

How do you prevent downloading using data?? I remember there being an option and i had it turned off but today I was streaming and saved the Playlist I was listening to and realized that the download arrow had turned to green (this means it's available offline right?). Now I can't find the option to not use data for downloading!

Tap the menu button on the top left and then tap settings.

Scroll down and tap the radio button next to 'sync over cellular' so that it isn't green.

I have data cut off on my phone and the green light on download over cellular is still on???

I have turned on 'download via cellular' and still spotify would not download over 4G. I have 300gb per month plan. I prefer 4g downloads on the go. It used to work on android 5, but now on android 6 (xperia z5) it does not.

@user-removed try reinstalling the Spotify app. It seems there are issues with the way marshmallow has changed how it handles permissions and reinstalling the app is the only way to get android to allow writing to the sd.

@user-removed are you able to download over WiFi OK? Let's see if the issue is the downloading or in fact just the title to use the cellular network.

Wifi download works fine. When trying to download over 4g it says: turn on cellular download option. It is on of course. I toggled it several times.

@user-removed Who is your network provider and in what country? Sounds like they are blocking the service if that's the case as otherwise I'm sure we would have other users complaining about this issue.

i cant doenload with my cellular
when i click on download it says that "go to setting for download with cellular"
i went there and i turned on cellular download

but it doesn't down load..
what should i do?

Hi! I'm trying to find the "download using cellular data" on mg settings but there's none. I don't usually have an access over wifi and that's a problem for me. Help! 😞

I now just see the playlists and download them on the internet 😃

i am using sony xperia z3+ and am having the same problem for downloading using cellular data. i can only download it via wifi.

i have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it again. it still does not work.

1.Goto "your library"
2.Press the settings cog in the top right corner
3.Scroll down untill you see "music quality"
4. At the bottom of the menu labeled music quality there's a "download over cellular" toggle tap the switch to turn on/off
(Green=On Grey=Off)
