The answer is probably buried somewhere in the forums, but I've yet to come across it definitively:

I have music files already on my Android phone. Is there a way to add those to my Spotify library/playlist without jumping through Desktop Client hoops?

Thank you!

Afraid not. The Spotify player is designed only to play songs steamed or synced. This is because of the encryption required and also just because it is designed for this purpose alone. Local media files are handled a lot better with power amp or other media players.
