Using SD Card for Spotify Not Working

I have read about 20 posts about this and I'm sure there are many more. All of them basically say to do a clean install and try again. None of the solutions posted seem to work for me.

I am using a brand new Moto G LTE on Adroid 4.4.4 that has about 5GB free on internal and about 30GB free on a new SD card. The SD card works fine in other devices.

I have tried doing a clean install. Followed every step to the letter. I have used file manager and there is no trace of spotify before I re-install the app from the play store again. No matter what I do spotify puts the music on my internal storage.

I'm new to spotify and on a 30 day Premium Trial and honestly if I can't get this to work I'll probably just stick with the free service.

Update:

So i just tried again and made some notes of the storage details in my Android settings.

Before Dowloading an album....

Storage Data for Spotify App:

total 75.86MB
app 30.92MB
data 44.94MB

cache 252kb

SD Card Storage Data&colon;

29.82GB Total

29.77 Available

After Downloading an Album.....

Storage Data for Spotify App:

total 142MB
app 30.92MB
data 111MB

cache 252kb

SD Card Storage Data&colon;

29.82GB Total

29.71 Available

File manager now showing com.spotify.music is on my SD card.

So, SD card storage space decreased which is a good sign. But what exactly is happening here? The total data amount increased for the spotify app but that increase is being stored on my SD card?

I forgot to check the internal storage data before and after download.

Just did one more download...

Internal Storage Available before and after were same.

SD card storage decreased from 29.71GB to 29.50GB.

So - it looks like it's going to the right place right?

Only question is why, in App info, does the Data amount increase? Is that just a total regardless of whether it's internal or on SD card?

Hi. That's exactly it; when the Android system is showing your data usage it is giving you the whole amount. It then later shows you how much of your data is stored on your sd card.

So you are all good. BTW thanks for the detailed posts, it really helps!
