Syncing Local Files to Android over Public Wifi

Hey all, hopefully you guys can help, I have a galaxy s5 and a MacBook Pro, and I've been loving spotify premium, however since I've been at college I haven't been able to sync local files to my phone as the app only supports syncing over wifi and the wifi here is large and public. Because of this, my computer can't find my phone in order to sync the music files. Is there any way I can change some settings around, or set up a smaller network for the two to be able to link and share files?

Hi,

Correct. It just won't work on a public WiFi.... I know some people have bought a cheap router or even used a tablet/another device to create a hotspot and then connect both to that which will allow you to perform a sync.

If you have another device you can use (or maybe borrow a friends) then you should be able to do it that way.
