Spotify Connect For Desktop App

I've followed every step i've seen on this issue, but i haven't had the slightest luck in any of it. I really want to listen to things that are on my computer when i'm away from it but this issue keeps me away from it. I've turned on Sync from cellular but now the local files are stuck on loading and when I go to see what song is playing on the computer from the android app, it tells me i'm playing a whole different song.

Are you using the play queue? That combined with local files seems to be able to mess up Connect between my iOS devices and desktop (not sure about android).

Hi. Can i check; what you are saying is that you have tracks on your desktop and you want to have these offline on your phone? It sounds like you have synced your playlist, but what you then need to do is mark it as offline on your phone whilst you are in the same wifi network as type desktop. This will transfer the tracks to your phone for offline listening.

@Daniel, the problem is that the files that are originally on my computer wont download through spotify. i did turn the playlist to play in offline mode on the android but it wont let me play thr songs i have locally.

When you say locally do you mean the tracks are in your pc and you want them on your phone or are they stored on your phone? Apologies if I'm asking silly questions, if you can try to explain what you are doing it a bit more it would be useful.

Thats alright. Yes, I do mean that the files are on the computer and I want to listen to them on my phone through spotify. They are ligitimate songs from people. Would there be a way to import those files from computer to phone directly, then be able to listen to the songs on spotify? Also, these songs are in mp3 format if that means anything to help towards the solution.

Please read the support topic here for assistance setting up local file sync: Listen to local files

Make sure that you are on the same WiFi network and Windows & third party firewalls are configured to allow the Spotify connection through.

Another point to note is that sometimes if a track is stored locally & is also available to stream then when you sync to your device it will automatically use the Spotify streaming version but the data from your playlist. If for some reason the metadata such as track length differs this can cause conflict and break the track. In this instance you are best off removing the local file from your playlist on the desktop and adding the track from the Spotify server then re-sync. This should fix this issue.

I also gave instructions to another user yesterday regarding local files stored on their phone and playing them through Spotify, thread here. Do be aware that Spotify for Android will not play local mp3's stored on your device; only files streamed or synced from the Desktop app. If you have mp3's then you need these to sync from your PC using the Desktop application.
