I can not find a way to toggle volume level normalizing off, there must be one, right?

Alternative would be too crazy so there must be a switch, where is it?

How have you Daniel gained the knowledge that android app doesn't normalize?

I have no active EQ or anything like that....

I have tested this on a couple of different android devices....

(other audio apps on those devices work normally)

Here's some real world measured examples using android spotify

Example1

The infamous Metallica’s The Day That Never Comes from Death Magnetic album, without normalization: peaks hit -0dB and RMS is somewhere around -4dB (Crazy Loud), but when played with Android Spotify App the peaks are around -6dB and RMS is -10dB.

So… gain reduction is about 6dB.

Coincidence or not but measured difference between normalized and not normalized playback of this same song using Mac's Spotify is the same 6dB....

Example2

Foo Fighters Sonic Highways Album's song -Something from nothing:

Original peaks -0dB

Original RMS (average from louder passages) -7dB

Android Spotify peaks -3dB

Android Spotify RMS -10dB

gain reduction... 3dB (same as measured difference between normalized and original version of the song played with Mac's Spotify)

If that's not normalizing, i don't know what is....

Spotify on IOS devices plays songs with their original levels, mac and windows Spotify programs have optional normalizing.

So, what is up with this?

Normalization and compression are both very bad features for classical music. They ruin one of the most valuable characteristic of this kind of music: variable dynamic range between tracks and within them. I think Spotify staff should urgently implement normalization on/off switch for the Android app.

I also would really like to see an option to turn this off on Android. Also they seem to have removed this option from the new desktop version.
