No notification bar controls

Hi, I'm using Spotify app on Android 4.2.2, LG g2, Spotify version 2.9.0.890, and I can't see the music controls on the notification bar, I have to go into the app whenever I want to pause or change track. I don't want to reinstall the app since I'd have to re-download tons of tracks.
Any solutions to this?

The G2 has the update to Lollipop doesn't it (unless you're on the mini)... can you try updating to the latest version of Android?

Also are you using a lockscreen from the Play Store or the standard one pre-installed. Lastly check your security settings to make sure that lockscreen widgets are allowed access.

Hi, thanks for replying.

Indeed, the G2 has the update to Lollipop but it hasn't reached my country
yet... and i'm not using a lockscreen at all.. i tried enabling a
lockscreen and the music controls work fine from there..what i mean is that
i don't have those controls in the notification bar, (i guess it's called
that way, the one that appears when you slide down from the top).
