Extreme data usage, even with Spotify stopped

My Android Spotify (premium account) is doing funny since about 14 days. While on 4G, during a song, the playback stops and the data usage increases significantly. Even when I quit (not kill!!!) Spotify, the data usage goes through the roof. I had one day of 1Gb when I only listened for 15 minutes. Only when I really kill the application the download stops.

What I did so far:

- reinstalled Spotify -> did not work

- installed clean ROM -> did not work

- installed older version of Spotify -> did not work

- logged out and logged in again with other, free account -> HEY, THAT WORKED!

Hence, the issue must be my account. I have one playlist, containing 33 songs. That's it. No offline songs, no huge playlists.

Streaming quality is set to normal.

What could be wrong with my account???

SOLUTION: log off ALL devices that are logged in with the premium account. Reconnect to spotify with Android device, then other devices. Done.
