Spotify Android screen comes to foreground during ad creating distraction during driving

I have Spotify (5.10.849) playing in the background and Google Maps in the foreground of my Nexus 5 Android (6.0.1) phone. Recently I noticed that during ads which say something like 'Click on the banner to get 30 minutes of ad free music' that the Spotify screen comes to the foreground. This then forces me to interact with my phone to bring Google Maps back on top, causing a dangerous driving situation. I was a Premium member until recently and so did not notice this issue earlier. Is there any way (short of becoming a Premium member again) to avoid this dangerous situation? I don't mind hearing the ads, but don't want my navigation screen disappearing. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't call it a bug, more an enhancement. Have you checked to see if that Idea already exists in the Ideas section? If it does then add your Kudos to show your support. If not, create a new idea and if it gets enough Kudos it may well happen!
