Notification / Lock Screen Controls Dissapearing- Marshmallow

Hi Spotify Crew,

I've found similiar threads about this issue, but the suggested fixes haven't worked.

The problem is that the ongoing notifcation is randomly dissapearing, which in turn removes it from the lock screen. Typically it will happen if the device is locked and there has be no music played for 15mins or so, but I've seen it dissapear when actively using the phone and not playing music for a couple of minutes as well.

It's quite annoying when I'm out riding on the motorbike as I rely on the bluetooth controls to control the playback, which fail if the persistent notification is no longer present.

After the icon has dissapeared, if I close / open the app it seems to continue working again

To fix it I've tried:

- disabling power saving

- excluding spotify from Doze

- making the Spotify notification a "priority"

- removing the lock screen (so the screen just turns off)

Google Play Music seems to be OK

I'm running an LG G4 on Android 6.0

Please read the guide linked below for details on the most common issues and how to fix them. Usually a clean install is the first step to take and resolves most of the usual issues; the guide details the steps to take to ensure a full 'clean installation' is achieved - This includes checking redundant folders and a REBOOT!

Same problem over here, with a Galaxy S7... It's really annoying, they should solve it before losing any more costumers.

Thought I'd revisit this today and try that suggested fix (basically a clean uninstall).

All the folders were checked to be clean, actually the phone had been factory reset after Spotify was last installed anyway.

End result, paused some music, went to answer a WhatsApp message. OK, message done, let's just resume that music by bringing down the notification control. Yep. Gone.

*Uninstalls Spotify again*. It's clearly not meant to be on my phone.

Looks like this needs to be reported to Spotify directly. If you're still experiencing the issue, I highly suggest you contact them here, on Twitter with the @SpotifyCares handle, or on their Facebook page.

Tell your issues, what has been tried so far and for sure, they will not leave you behind.

Same problem here. Motorola Moto Maxx xt1225, android 6.0.1.

Some times the notification icon apears, sometimes it does not. When it is on, all is fine. When there is no icon, i have no lockscreen controls, no notification controls and no bluetooth next/previus play/pause.

I have tried clean reinstall, factory reset, not energey saving for spotify app, set as priority spotify notificationds to no avail.

I would prefer to always have the notification controls, no this bogus "feature" that only show them when spotify is hidden. But in my case, they doesnt show at all, no matter if spotify is in the background or not. It is specially infuriating when I try to use the bluetooth in my car to change the song and it only pauses for a second and then continues. 😞

Version 6.5.0.1795 seems to have fixed it!

Hey guys,

So I've been having this same notification issue for the past week, my Sony Bluetooth headphones also keep losing control of the music.

A new beta (v6.5.0.1795) came out yesterday and I've been using it for the past 24 hours. It seems to have fixed it! Link below, try it and test. It may be just a fluke but the notification on my Nexus 6P (6.0.1) hasn't disappeared at all yet. I haven't cleaned data, reinstalled or anything. My Bluetooth headphones have also been able to control the music all day. Looking good!
