If you are running android 6 (you haven't said whether you are or not) go to android settings/storage. Does it show your SD card under Portable storage or under Internal storage?

I have the latest Xperia which I keep updated with a brand new Samsung memory card with ample space for thousands of songs. Yet, the spotify app has had impacts on my phone since I got it: Crashes continuously, basic functioning, overheats, slowness, unresponsiveness. 4/5 times I open the app it fails. Yet I really need legal music.
Anyone else?
Why is this happening on a brand new top of the range device? When will something be done? I will not continue using spotify for this price soon. I am getting so frustrated.

If you're running android 6, have you by any chance configured your SD card as internal/adoptable storage?
