Android 6 update - Spotify now runs slowly

Brief description of the issue: After the update to Android version 6.0, Spotify is taking a long time to carry out actions. This includes loading a playlist, loading the list of playlists, starting to play songs (sometimes up to 2 minutes to begin playing even with downloaded songs), reacting when pressing the "pause" button (takes a few seconds), loading menus and pretty much any action. Right now my "recently played" section took ~15 seconds even though I am on high speed wifi. This issue occurs whether on 30mbps internet or 3g/4g/no connection. Sometimes it works just fine, but most actions seem to take much longer than they used to.

Note that before the Android update, the app worked just fine and was pretty quick.

The issue reminds me of a CPU bottleneck in the system, as if the phone is too busy doing other things with its resources, however this occurs even if Spotify is the only active app, and there appears to be no problem indicated in Android settings.

What steps you’ve tried already: Uninstalling/reinstalling. Setting Spotify to ignore battery optimizations.
