Bluetooth Car Radio Connectivity

When my phone connects to the radio in the car, I cannot get music to play even after pressing the play button on the radio. The phone does start playing the song sometimes but sound does not get pushed to the radio until the phone is unlocked and spotify is opened.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

Get in car
Radio states the phone is connected
Press play on the radio
Music does not play, but songs metadata (name, artist, etc..) will change over time.

The only way to fix this is to open the park the car and then unlock my phone and open the spotify app.

I have the same problem Buy with an iPhone 5s. The Song data appear in my screen Buy i can not hear my Spotify Songs at my car Speakers!!
