Offline mode does not work

Even though I have downloaded songs and they are marked as downloaded, when I try to play them when I'm offline, they don't start until I connect to internet. I can connect only for a second and they will play, but I NEED to be connected.
How can I fix this?

I came to Spotify from Google Music, and there it worked without any trouble at all. If I was offline, I could only see and play the songs I had downloaded. In Spotify I can see them, but when I press the song, it's stuck at 0 seconds played.

That shouldn't be happening @arnstein. As a first step, could you try a clean reinstall following all the steps in the first part of this post. If you still have problems, please let us know:

Make/model of your device
Android version

I have Android 5.1.1 and Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo. That guide was the first thing I found when I googled it, so I have already tried it.
